Qld: QCCI warns of possible wages blowout and inflation
Queensland's largest employer group has warned of a massive wages blowout and inflation
hike if more industries push for a GST clause in their enterprise bargaining agreements.
Queensland Chamber of Commerce and Industry chief executive ANDREW CRAIG, says he's
worried last week's inclusion of a GST clause in the railworkers' agreement will create
a copycat effect throughout the state.
Mr CRAIG says the GST clause isn't unique to railworkers and employers are worried
that such clauses will become commonplace.
He's welcomed the Queensland Government's revision of the state's 1999-2000 growth
forecast up a quarter of a percentage point to four per cent, but warns it doesn't translate
across every sector of the economy.
